Croydon officially opens Cavendish House as new home for Council services

Croydon Council has officially opened new facilities at Cavendish House, marking another important step in its plans to bring key Council services together and make it easier for residents to access support.

Executive Mayor of Croydon, Jason Perry, officially opened the building on Friday 16 October with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the new facilities.

The Council's housing needs service will be the first to move into Cavendish House, South Croydon. From Wednesday 21 October, residents requiring housing or homelessness assistance will be seen at the new location through an appointment-based service, benefiting from improved facilities designed to provide a more welcoming, private and supportive environment.

The move to Cavendish House provides a dedicated reception area, enhanced waiting facilities, increased interview and assessment capacity, improved family-friendly facilities, and strengthened safeguarding and security arrangements designed to support both residents and staff. The building also benefits from improved accessibility, upgraded visitor management systems, enhanced internet connectivity and public Wi-Fi.

Residents attending appointments at Cavendish House are encouraged to check their appointment details and plan their journey before travelling.

In July, the Council's Cabinet approved plans to bring a number of key services together at Cavendish House, creating a new front door for residents. The housing needs move is the first stage of these plans, with further Council services expected to follow.

Executive Mayor of Croydon, Jason Perry, said: “Getting help with housing can be stressful. Residents deserve somewhere welcoming, with proper privacy to discuss their circumstances and suitable facilities for their families. That is what we are delivering at Cavendish House.

“Bringing services together under one roof is common sense. We are making better use of Council buildings, improving facilities for residents and giving staff more space to carry out assessments.

“Housing needs is the first service moving in, with more to follow. My priority is simple: making it easier for residents to get the help they need.”
